Video Thumbnails
Video Thumbnails makes it easy to automatically display video thumbnails in your template. When you publish a post, this plugin will find the first video embedded and retrieve a thumbnail for you. Thumbnails can be saved to your media library and set as a featured image automatically. There’s even support for custom post types and custom fields!

YouTubeを埋め込む時にアイキャッチも自動で生成

当サイトでは使っていない(別のでアイキャッチ画像を自動的に表示する方を選択しているため)のですが、以前に別サイトで使っていたプラグインです。YouTubeやVimeoの動画のサムネイル画像を自動で取得して、それをアイキャッチ画像にしてくれます。つまり閲覧者に対してどんな動画なのかをアイキャッチ画像で示すことが自動でできるというわけです。このプラグインにより、動画のサムネイル画像を手動で編集する手間を省くことができます。初期設定のままでも利用できますが、画像の表示位置や表示内容を細かく指定することもできたり、自動取得された画像を別のものに選択しなおすことも可能です。

他のプラグイン同様、WordPress管理画面 ＞ プラグイン ＞ 新規追加 ＞「Video Thumbnails」で検索
